Coaching

Hello, I’m Kevin Foss. I am the director and head coach at Trailstoke. I coach mountain biking for three reasons: 1) To build a mountain bike community that supports and surrounds kids by helping families and individuals develop the skills and confidence to ride. 2) To help teenagers work through the adolescent processes of developing identity, autonomy, and character in the melting pot of mountain bike racing and travel. 3) I love mountain biking and helping people learn and grow.

I am currently certified as a USA Cycling Level 2 Coach, Professional Mountain Bike Instructor Association Level 2 Instructor, and a Wilderness First Responder.

The philosophy of the Trailstoke Athlete Development program is that cycling is a great environment to help a teen walk through the process of adolescence. We seek to help young athletes build their fitness, bike handling skills, and tactics with an overall goal that becoming a person with a solid sense of self, integrity, and healthy relationships is more important than any competitive goal or result.

Our coaching programs are primarily with junior athletes age 13-23. I believe young athletes develop best when they have regular face to face contact with their coach and other athletes who are at a similar level. Training plans are built to blend skills instruction, fitness workouts, and appropriate group rides. These are designed to push you to ride safe, confident, and fit as you pursue your cycling goals.
